TRU to carry exclusive classic X-Men Marvel Legends set photo
TRU to carry exclusive classic X-Men Marvel Legends set
by Scarecroodle

Toys "R" Us will be carrying an exclusive Marvel Legends box set featuring the original five X-Men in their original costumes, based on their appearances in the All-New X-Men where the group's past selves confront their modern versions thanks to the magic of time-travel.

The set was apparently supposed to retail for US$85 (which would break down to US$17 per figure, a bit over the cost of a normal Marvel Legend) but reports have surfaced that the price has jumped to a whopping US$140! Fan-reaction has been understandably negative, especially considering that the set features very little new tooling.

The set, which goes up for sale in February, currently isn't listed on the Toys "R" Us website although a pre-order page previously existed. It should show up at local retailers where it may wind up being even more than US$140 depending on the awfulness of your local stores.

Tomopop Review: Psylocke (X-Force ver.) by Kotobukiya photo
Tomopop Review: Psylocke (X-Force ver.) by Kotobukiya
by Tianxiao Ma

Psylocke has been a popular character among Marvel Comics fans, although she's probably more known for her X-Men incarnation than her original stint as a supporting character in Captain Britain. While western manufacturers have pumped out a decent amount of Psylocke figures, only Kotobukiya has tackled the character out east. I guess those appearances in Capcom games haven't really helped her cause.

Kotobukiya's latest Psylocke rendition falls under the Marvel Bishoujo brand, and depicts our psionic ninja in her black X-Force costume. Read on to see if the figure is as awesome as being a psionic mutant ninja.

DST announces Marvel Select photo contest winners photo
DST announces Marvel Select photo contest winners
by Scarecroodle

Back in August, Diamond Select Toys announced that it would be holding a Marvel Select-themed photo contest with a number of prizes which included MS prototypes, rare variants, and the such. The results are in and apparently the Rhino has charged to victory, being the subject of both Ryan Vasquez's winning photo (see header) and first runner-up (a.k.a. second place) Earl E. Ware's photo which depicts Rhino stomping on Spider-man. Second runner-up (or third place) went to Geof Le Baron, who shot Marvel Select's Agent Venom being overpowered by the fan-favorite Classic Venom.

Additionally, DST has recognized a number of other entries as being worthy of mention (they're also in the gallery). Personally I was impressed by Emmanuel's beach scene although, given it's an absurdly wide panoramic shot, I can understand why it didn't win for practicality reasons. However, I'd encourage you to download that one and just zoom in on each section since it's pretty creative. Fred also deserves some props for going all out with his rogues' gallery scene since he has NINE figures in there (including Deadpool peeking through a window) and it looks like it's all just DST-created Marvel Select merchandise which makes it a great showcase for the line's offerings.

Be sure to check out the gallery for all the photos and let us know who you think should have won.
