Bow down to the White Queen: Sideshow's Premium Format Emma Frost up for pre-order

Sideshow's 1/4-scale Emma Frost Premium Format Figure is now available for pre-order. The figure features two interchangeable heads (or just hair parts?): one for the modern long-haired Emma Frost and another for the classic ...

ArtFX+ X-Force Deadpool receives cutting-edge preview gallery photo
ArtFX+ X-Force Deadpool receives cutting-edge preview gallery
by Scarecroodle

Kotobukiya has released an image gallery for its upcoming ArtFX+ X-Force Deadpool, a redeco of the ArtFX+ Deadpool coverage (currently available for pre-order).

The X-Force variant is something of a common sense re-deco, especially since it's a more contemporary outfit (although Deadpool was created in the 90s so everything with him is somewhat contemporary). I'm guessing that Kotobukiya's inevitable ArtFX+ Wolverine will probably also receive an X-Force deco (and a '90s Jim Lee deco... and a brown & tan John Byrne deco... and so on) as will a somewhat likely ArtFX+ Psylocke (especially given that the character has had several Fine Arts statues and a few Bishoujos now).

It's a decent-looking repaint, although I've never been a fan of this outfit. Be sure to check out the additional images in the gallery.

ArtFX+ Deadpool slices and dices, even minces, his way into a preview gallery photo

[UPDATE: Now available for pre-order]

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, you checked out the teaser, you saw him in our SDCC coverage, here's the man (or figure) of the hour: ArtFX+ Deadpool! Kotobukiya has released a preview gallery for everybody's favorite Merc with a Mouth. Will the world ever be the same again?

ArtFX+ Deadpool (which will come in two flavors, strawberry and lemon (and also two colors, red and black (and also two colorways, standard and X-Force gray&black))) features an interchangeable component in his left hand which gives you the choice of a cool gesture, having him hold a second sword, or having him hold a picket sign. I can imagine you'd have a lot of fun with the picket sign. Some fans already have.

Although not depicted, I'm wondering if the spare sword can be stored in the sheath on Deadpool's back when not in use. The thing seems to have a space carved into it, after all. Otherwise, the sculpting, pose, and paint on this one are all pretty neat. As such, it should appease the legions of Deadpool fans even if it might not be the greatest fit for the ArtFX+ line-up given that pose.

Kotobukiya's ArtFX+ Deadpool can be pre-ordered for US$60 and is slated to release in June. Be sure to check the gallery. Expect pre-orders to open soon.

SDCC 2014: Hasbro - Marvel press photos photo
SDCC 2014: Hasbro - Marvel press photos
by Scarecroodle

Great news, true believers! Spider-Man 2099, Agent Coulson, Thanos, Hobgoblin, Maria Hill, and more were featured in a batch of press photos sent over by Hasbro.

While we hope to get some of our own photos of a few of these (some of whom were added to the booth after our visit), these should help to tide you over until then. First, and most importantly (to me, anyway), is the announcement that Spider-Man 2099 will be among the first wave of the 2015 Spider-Man Legends figures.

Continued after the jump.

Sideshow's Sentinel maquette fully revealed, up for pre-order photo
Sideshow's Sentinel maquette fully revealed, up for pre-order
by Scarecroodle

Sideshow Collectibles' gargantuan 32-inch Sentinel maquette is currently available for pre-order.

I was fairly wowed when I saw the preview image back in May and the full thing is, well, staggering. Not what quite what I expected, but still really cool. The pose is a little odd but it seems to have been chosen to show off the Sentinel's machine-y musculature and weapons array. If the detail and size wasn't enough for you, the Sentinel also features light-up features AND an interchangeable head with neck articulation. The only thing that's not totally awesome? That US$900 price tag.

Between the size and the size of the price-tag, the Sentinel maquette is going to have to just be something I admire in photographs. I would love to see Sideshow Collectibles turn this design into a fully articulated figure, though, especially with retractable weapons.

Sideshow Collectibles' Sentinel maquette is slated to ship next July and will run you US$900. As with Sideshow's other offerings, a payment plan is available.

Kotobukiya teases ArtFX+ Deadpool photo
Kotobukiya teases ArtFX+ Deadpool
by Scarecroodle

Kotobukiya has posted a teaser for what could be either an ArtFX+ Deadpool. The image depicts the mutant's arm and shoulder as he draws a sword.

Kotobukiya has been top-loading on teasers going into SDCC, including several Bishoujos teased (the Marvel Bishonen line remains... well, not happening). The ArtFX+ Deadpool was announced in a Kotobukiya catalog earlier this year and is the first new Marvel Now! ArtFX+ statue shown since the Marvel Now! Avengers series.

Expect the full unveil at SDCC.

The future is only days away! DST releases SDCC-exclusive DOFP Minimates gallery photo
The future is only days away! DST releases SDCC-exclusive DOFP Minimates gallery
by Scarecroodle

Diamond Select Toys has released a preview gallery, concept sheets, and more for its upcoming (days away!) SDCC-exclusive X-Men: Days of Future Past comic Minimate box set. The box set will be on sale for US$20 at booth #Booth 2607 during SDCC and is limited to 3,000 pieces

The preview gallery features the box set's four Minimates (Logan/Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Mystique, and a Sentinel), along with Colossus and Nightcrawler (each sold separately!), and makes use of a few perspective tricks to make the Sentinel look bigger. Also featured is a cross-section of Mystique's different heads which includes her normal head, a half-transformed head, and a full version of Senator Robert Kelly's head (each with an appropriate hairpiece).

Not featured was the Sentinel's alternate, damaged head (which you can see in the concept sheet and the Minimates tray), which looks pretty neat.

Be sure to check out the gallery.

Start the fireworks, the rest of Koto's Jubilee has been revealed photo
Start the fireworks, the rest of Koto's Jubilee has been revealed
by Scarecroodle

Kotobukiya has unveiled the full prototype for its upcoming Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee. The sculpting (which still subject to great) looks surprisingly great and I find that I absolutely love the design... which is why I'm not looking forward to seeing it painted because things can only go downhill from here. Granted, if Kotobukiya could make the pose work then perhaps there's hope for the paint as well.

The one point of interest is that the statue doesn't seem to have any special effects. The Shunya artwork depicted an overly stylized version of Jubilee's energy plasmoids and I would have assumed we might see something similar in the finished product since they've done the same for other characters. It's possible that the piece is being sculpted separately because it will likely be removable.

Casual X-Men fans will best remember Jubilee from X-Men: The Animated Series where the character had a starring role (yet received no action figure in the associated toy line despite having the potential for a great light-up gimmick). She would go on to have a very minor place in X-Men Evolution (where, due to differences in design, it didn't really even look like Jubilee) and was featured in some deleted scenes in the films. Jubilee seems to be frequently cut in favor of Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat, formerly Sprite) who serves a similar function as a teen/rookie member and features a power that offers more diversity to the team (although both have powers known for shorting or damaging electrical instruments).

In the comics, Jubilee has often served as Wolverine's "Robin" (more literally used in Amalgam, where she became the character known as Sparrow and served as a sidekick to Dark Claw (a fusion of Wolverine and Batman)).

Koto's Bishoujo Jubilee headsculpt previewed photo
Koto's Bishoujo Jubilee headsculpt previewed
by Scarecroodle

Kotobukiya has previewed an unpainted (but partially penciled in for detail's sake) headsculpt prototype of its upcoming Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee. The company plans to reveal parts of her sculpt as a week-long event.

Will Jubilee be greater than the sum of her individual parts? The character artwork still leaves me feeling a little skeptical (partly for that silly base) despite the head-sculpt showing some promise. I really want this one to work out (as Jubilee is my favorite female member of the X-Men) but Shunya has a habit of making things that I don't find appealing (Black Cat (reviewed) being one of the rare exceptions).

Will Jubilee's final reveal result in fireworks or a fizzle? Only time will tell. In the mean time, you can check out a version of the image in its natural resolution in gallery.

Kotobukiya will have a Classic X-Men Bishoujo Psylocke as a SDCC exclusive photo
Kotobukiya will have a Classic X-Men Bishoujo Psylocke as a SDCC exclusive
by Vanessa Cubillo

How much did you love Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Psylocke? I mean, as a Psylocke fan, I loved it! There’s never enough figures of her.

That’s why it’s so awesome to find out that Kotobukiya will be releasing a new colorway of their Bishoujo Psylocke as a SDCC exclusive. This new version will make her look like her classic X-Men version. That’s my favorite version!

Her costume will be blue with a fuchsia belt, and all of her hair will be purple. Around her sword there will even be psi-energy field. Limited to 1500 pieces, fans can get her at SDCC and through a limited online event.
