The Pokemon Center is getting into the fall spirit with the release of their Halloween plush collection into their US online store. The series is admittedly smaller than the seasonal campaigns seen in Japan but, honestly, I a...

Nintendo says no to Shapeways while Hasbro says go for it

Shapeways can't catch a break, or maybe it can? Shapeways has a tendency to be a bit controversial, what with its place as a 3D printing hub making use of user-created 3D renders, many of which are based on licensed character...

SHF Mega Blaziken gets Mega Awesome preview gallery photo
SHF Mega Blaziken gets Mega Awesome preview gallery
by Scarecroodle

Bandai's upcoming S.H. Figuarts Mega Blaziken has received an absolutely amazing preview gallery which depicts the mega evolution fighting against previous (and upcoming) S.H. Figuarts Pokemon.

Highlights include a demonstration of the Tamashii "Burning Flame" effects (used against Venusaur *and* used as a power-up by Lucario and Mega Blaziken), a blurred "Quick Attack", that awesome moon silhouette, and more!

The gallery also seems to reveal what could be a special base for SHF Mega Blaziken, a black and silver version of the Pokeball-themed base seen with previous releases. See all the images in the gallery.

The Pokemon Center is coming back to the US online

After losing The Pokemon Center in New York City, I thought the only way I’d be able to go to one again was if I went back to Japan. It was such a magical store! I just grabbed whatever I wanted, and didn’t care ...

Mega Blaziken is the next Pokemon S.H. Figuarts photo
Mega Blaziken is the next Pokemon S.H. Figuarts
by Scarecroodle

A wild photo of a S.H. Figuarts Mega Blaziken has appeared! Mega Blaziken, of the Mega Evolutions introduced in Pokemon X/Y, will be the second Pokemon character in Bandai's merged S.H. Figuarts line (four Pokemon figures previously appeared in the D-Arts line) and is the first Pokemon that we've seen since Lucario went up for pre-order in February.

Mega Blaziken is an interesting choice and was possibly picked because Nintendo had an early promo giving away a Torchic with Blazikenite (the item needed for Blaziken's Mega Evo) although the upcoming Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire remakes could have influenced the decision as well. Blaziken has long been one of my favorite Pokemon (since about 2003) although I've yet to actually use its Mega form in the games... having lost interest in Pokemon Y some time after the first gym. While I would have preferred the normal Blaziken, I'll most likely wind up grabbing this version.

As noted in my speculative "What's Next for the D-Arts Pokemon Line?", Blaziken (and his Mega counterpart) have a good body type for a super-articulated figure besides being a seemingly more agile character. Mega Blaziken's large legs (or feet?) should provide great natural balancing which would allow for kicking poses without needing a stand.

Pricing is currently unknown but the SHF Mega Blaziken is apparently slated for an October release.

McDonalds' toys are still gender-split, Pokemon is for boys only photo
McDonalds' toys are still gender-split, Pokemon is for boys only
by Andres Cerrato

McDonald's had a gold mine on its hands. The ever-popular Pokemon became the newest set of Happy Meal toys. While these are nowhere near the glory days of the Burger King promotion from the first Pokemon movie, McDonald's has failed in yet a worse way. No, it isn't because of how bad these toys appear to be.

Earlier this year, the company decided to end the practice of making Happy Meal toys gender-specific. You would think that with a property like Pokemon, it would be fun for all involved. Instead, Pokemon is relegated as the BOYS ONLY toy as it was paired with the release of toys celebrating a new American Girl movie.

Let's take this after the jump.

GSC says what we don't want to hear about Nendroid Red from Pokemon photo
GSC says what we don't want to hear about Nendroid Red from Pokemon
by Vanessa Cubillo

While Tamashii was debuting their summer collection to fans, a lot of people, including myself, became enchanted by a toy from an entirely different company. That would be Good Smile Company’s Nendroid Red from Pokemon. It was only a poster, but already I was falling in love with this tiny figure.

Not long after finding out about this figure, I was hearing depressing news I didn’t want to believe until GSC said it. Now, I’m afraid the rumblings were true. Nendroid Red is going to be a Japanese Pokemon Center exclusive!

Of course, with this heartbreaking news comes more information that just makes me want the figure even more. Red will be coming with three facial expressions, interchangeable arms, hands, and legs, and several accessories straight from the Pokemon world. He’ll have his backpack, Pokedex, Poke ball, Master ball, and Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

So Nendroid Red will be available at Japanese Pokemon Centers, but they will also be found at Amazon Japan's Pokemon Store. For ¥4,500, pre-orders will open at the end of May, and will be officially released at the end of September.
