MegaHobby Expo 2014 Autumn: Revolve

I'm completely unfamiliar with Revolve or most of the characters they had on display at their MehgaHobby Expo booth, but their painted figure of Chu Feng's Liu Li is stunning. Yes, she looks like a bee and that "stinger" of h...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Autumn: Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya's MegaHobby Expo 2014 Autumn offerings weren't too big on the new announcement side of things, but fans of Black Butler ~Book of Circus~ should be pleased. Not only were Sebastien and Ciel there, but so w...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Autumn: Alter

I've been feeling lukewarm about Alter's showings at events lately, but that changed when I saw what they brought to MegaHobby Expo. There's still the usual bishoujo/bishounen figures I don't really care for, but there were a...

MegaHouse shows a lot of pieces of One Piece at Megahobby Expo

Once again One Piece was the number one manga in sales in Japan for 2014 so it's no wonder why MegaHouse couldn't show any restraint when displaying OP figures at Megahobby Expo Autumn 2014. Some of these we've seen before, b...

The Naruto manga ends as MegaHouse adds more figures

If you're like me then your week feels a little less complete after years of getting a weekly dose of the Naruto manga ended in November. Sure, I was satisfied with the ending (got my pairings!), but I still want more. Thankf...

Tomocast 47: Megahobby Expo
by Pedro Cortes

Hot damn, you've got to love the summer months. All of you favorite companies are ganging up to show you the toys that you're going to drool over during the summer months. Then, of course, try to figure out how to pay for said toys when they release late this year or early next year.

I say this because the latest event is the main subject of the latest episode of the Tomocast. I'm joined once again by Andres and Tian to talk about Megahobby Expo, as well as the top news stories that have hit our glorious site. So go ahead and follow us on iTunes, directly download the episode here or hit the jump to stream it and get the show notes. Enjoy!

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Inshun Houzouin is all about spears and butts

Apart from a random Jubei figure here and there, I haven't seen much Hyakka Ryoran activity. I think Alter is the only manufacturer that ever really gave the franchise any attention (I guess Hobby Japan too). At MegaHobby Exp...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Travel through some dungeons with Mefmera

MegaHobby Expo had a number of new Alter prototypes on display, including this Mefmera from Dungeon Travelers 2. I don't know anything about the game, but this figure is rather pretty. From all the Rage of Bahamut figures tha...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: A full-blooded Valkyria joins the battle

Some figures can be encapsulated with a single word. I think the word for this one is "bendy." This is Alter's version of Aliasse, a character from Valkyria Chronicles 2. As you can tell by her gear, she's a Valkyria - a warr...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Kotobukiya's Levi wants your house spotless

Kotobukiya's Attack on Titan line is steadily growing. With Eren and Mikasa already up for pre-order, it was logical to assume the previously-revealed Levi would be coming next. A few shots of the painted prototype arose from...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: MegaHouse's Yato will certainly cost more than 5 photo
MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: MegaHouse's Yato will certainly cost more than 5
by Jeremy Emerje Crocker

I have to admit I'm a little surprised that the first figure released for the anime series Noragami is the main character Yato. I know that seems a little strange to say, but come on, it's a guy. I was really sure the first would be the not-a-cat tailed Hiyori because, you know, she's a girl and this is Japan. Not that I'm disappointed, I'm always happy to see companies, in this case MegaHouse, buck the trend every now and then. Well, he will be part of the G.E.M. series which is dominated by male characters...

Sculpting looks pretty good, but the obvious draw, besides being a decreasingly rare male figure, is the appearance of him floating in mid air. I'm a sucker for non-typical posing like this. He's shown with a bottle which could be sake or it could be miracle cure he got from some huckster, it's hard to tell when it comes to the former war god that will do any job from finding cats to cleaning bathrooms for ¥5.

No real info on prize and release date just yet. I really hope they announce Hiyori and Yukine, if they did that I'd order for sure!
