Take another look at GSC's exclusives before Wonder Festival

Well look at that, we're only a couple days away from Wonder Festival this weekend and Good Smile Company has another preview for their upcoming exclusives. Sure, you've already seen the figures they have in store, but thanks...

figma Motoko Kusanagi may soon Stand Alone on your shelf photo
figma Motoko Kusanagi may soon Stand Alone on your shelf
by Scarecroodle

Max Factory's figma Motoko Kusanagi (Stand Alone Complex ver.) is currently available for pre-order.

figma Motoko was first unveiled at Winter WonFes earlier this year where it received the expected amount of excitement. While I was also really hyped at the time, I can't help but think that the timing is a little off. I mean, where was this figure five or more years ago when I really wanted a Motoko figure for my shelf? Sure, an articulate SAC version of Motoko has long been on my figure wish list (the CM's Corp one just didn't cut it), but my want level has gone from 11 down to a 5 over the years.

That's not to say that figma Motoko doesn't look great; on the contrary, Max Factor has done a wonderful job on the sculpting and paint (although the standard face is so-so). The official images feature some cool poses. She comes with three faces (standard, shouting, and smiling) and two weapons (Seburo A5 and Seburo C26A). However... it's just not as exciting now.

Given that the SAC design is probably my favorite Motoko design (as much as I enjoyed the original Ghost in the Shell I never liked its art and I wasn't a fan of the manga) and that the series was, at one point, among my favorite anime, I feel like I'll probably wind up buying a copy. I just wish that Max Factory had released it at a time when I both more into the show and more into the figma line (not to mention when the line was more affordable).

Max Factory's figma Motoko Kusanagi can be pre-ordered for ¥4,800 and is slated for a December release.

figma Solid Snake sneaks out of the shadows, brings Nendoroid version with him photo
figma Solid Snake sneaks out of the shadows, brings Nendoroid version with him
by Martin Siggers

We'd already known Nendoroid Solid Snake was coming thanks to an announcement at Wonder Festival. Now though it seems Good Smile Company have gone deeper into Kojima territory, as on livestream today it was revealed Max Factory have been preparing a figma version of the grizzled hero.

This is no artwork reveal either. Instead we got a look at a fully sculpted grey prototype that seems pretty close to final, what with the high level of detailing. That's not all though, as we also got to see a fully painted and seemingly complete Nendoroid Snake.

They're both looking really great, with the level of detail on figma Snake a particular eyecatcher. No further details are forthcoming but I'd have to imagine they'll get out soon. The Nendoroid in particular looks preview-ready. We'll be sure to go on high alert for more news.

Max Factory shows they understand swimsuit figures with Misty

Max Factory has shown a proclivity for making figures of sexy ladies recently, and this swimsuit version of Misty from Shining Hearts has caught my eye. I find most swimsuit figures to be boring, but this one appeals to ...

figma Chariot rides into pre-orders, demands macaroons

One of the many things I enjoyed about the Black Rock Shooter anime was the design of the superbly disturbed original character, Chariot. Though she's been out and about as a Nendoroid, her creepy character design was al...

Figma Nagato invades Pearl Harbor and your pre-orders

KanColle is...odd. The amalgamation of pretty women and WWII Imperialist Japanese ships has become a hit, and in becoming so, the subject of many pieces of amusement. The next in the line is none other than figma Nagato, whic...

Delays hit Max Factory's Cerberus, Phat Company's Ryuko and more

Ah, the Good Smile Company delay announcement post. It's like an old familiar friend at this point, popping up once or twice a month to shatter our hopes and dreams, and then riding off into the sunset. While Deep Sea Miku re...

Good Smile Company unveils Summer Wonder Festival exclusives photo
Good Smile Company unveils Summer Wonder Festival exclusives
by Martin Siggers

Is it really almost Wonder Festival time again? Yes, though it might be difficult to believe, the biannual celebration of all things figure is almost upon us, and as ever headliner Good Smile Company has some neat exclusives to announce. Rather than a long drawn out tease like usual though, instead the company has just decided to cut to the chase and reveal everything all at once. Without further ado then, your WonFes exclusives are...

There are also two event-only charms of Wo-Class, plus the announcement of an online exclusive Ninja Slayer figma, although we've got no more details on that one yet.

As ever, GSC will have a limited quantity of exclusives on the floor (500 for the Dekacchu, 2500 for everything else) but those unable to attend will be able to grab any of the six main releases from the Good Smile Online Shop between 27th July and the 4th August. Any readers tempted to crack open your wallets for these?

figma Mizuhara Hazuki lunges into a preview gallery photo
figma Mizuhara Hazuki lunges into a preview gallery
by Scarecroodle

As I've said many times in the past, if there's one thing I have a weakness for it's armored babes. Sure, female warriors are cool on their own, but toss on some metal and it hits a whole new level. A photo gallery has recently cropped up for Max Factory's figma Hazuki Mizuhara (who was mentioned back in February then basically dropped off the radar) from the H-game Toushin Toshi II.

While I know relatively little about the source material (especially since the 3DS game is extremely unlikely to be localized and the 3DS has that annoying region-lock...), Hazuki herself has enough armor to attract my attention (as the character is *at least* wearing a cuirass) despite exposing... well, a goofy amount of skin (something of an industry standard, I suppose).

The overall look is enough to get me to overcome my increasing apathy towards the figma line (it's somewhat weird to think how amazed I was about the line at one point and now most news barely warrants an "eh") despite probably not being a spectacular example of Max Factory's work. Hazuki features a hair joint which is probably a big deal because a few images were devoted to it. Expect pre-orders to open soon.
