Max Factory's Yamato is on board with pre-orders

Here's Max Factory's Yamato, in case you were wondering about Kantai Collection's take on the legendary battleship. I rather like the figure, except for the mismatched socks. My favorite piece would have to be her hair, espec...

You aren't imagining things, this is really a figma Archer release gallery

Not a hoax and not a dream; figma Archer is really being released. In fact you may have already received your payment request for your pre-order. I fully expected months of delays, especially when it was realized it would be ...

Max Factory's Samurai goes up for pre-order again

I'm guessing quite a few people missed out on Max Factory's Samurai (sometimes called Katanako) the first time if aftermarket prices are any indication. This is a re-color rather than a straight up re-release, but if you stil...

Max Factory's Mikuzukin goes up for pre-order

The lovely Mikuzukin figure from Max Factory is up for pre-orders, merrily skipping along with a wolf on her head. I have a feeling this Miku design will be pretty popular. If you haven't already, you can check out the previe...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Good Smile Company - miscellaneous

Continuing with Good Smile Company's (and associates) apparently near-infinite display at WonFes, we arrive at some Attack on Titan figures and a bunch of Sonicos. GSC usually does a decent job with Sonico figures in that I d...

Last spotted at WonFes, Max Factory's Mikuzukin figure now has two proper previews. You can see some promo shots of her on the figma blog, and another gallery at Kahotan's Blog. I've been looking forward to this figure even before it got a paint job, and I'm not disappointed at all.

Mikuzukin (a portmanteau of Miku and Akazukin, the Japanese name for Red Riding Hood) is a design featured in Project Diva 2nd. It's a wonderful reinterpretation of Miku, putting her in an extremely cute outfit - and the skirt's just short enough to show the all-important zettai ryouiki. Jump on over to Kahotan's Blog or the official Max Factory preview to see all the little details. She'll be up for pre-order soon, and yeah... I'm getting in on that for sure!

[NSFW] Wonder Festival 2014 Summer - figFix Shimakaze kicks off new line

Wonder Festival saw Max Factory unveil a brand new line for the company - fixFix. As you might be able to guess from the name, it's a spin on their omnipresent figma line, but without the signature poseability. Instead, these...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Good Smile Company girls part 2

Partial nudity and figure collecting go hand in hand. If it makes you uncomfortable, you may want to avoid this gallery. However it makes me very comfortable, so I'll tell you a little about what's going on! These figures are...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Good Smile Company - Vocaloids

Now that we're seeing more and more creative takes on Vocaloid designs, I'm actually enjoying their presence. It looks like the days of the same boring Miku design being made over and over again are done with. Good Smile Comp...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Good Smile Racing

Wouldn't be a Wonder Festival if Good Smile Company didn't bring along some Hatsune Miku figures for us. They pulled out all the stops with the latest race queen versions of Miku including no less than two figmas, some fun Ne...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: figma

[UPDATE: Was pointed out that the figure next to the Thinker might just be an unpainted version rather than Michelangelo's David]

Spartans, great works of art, little vampires, and alien-hybrid super soldiers were just some of the figmas on display at Summer WonFes. These items included Rodan's The Thinker which, like figma Indiana Jones, belong in a museum.

The Thinker might raise a 'WTF flag' in the minds of at least a few people, but I mostly see the possibilities: a figma Statue of Liberty, a figma Sphinx, a figma Christ the Redeemer, and a figma Venus de Milo (okay, maybe not that last one!). Otherwise, The Thinker is a neat choice given that he's occasionally been parodied as coming to life in cartoons and the such.

The rest of the display included an unpainted Leonidas (300), painted Shinobu (Bakemonogatari), unpainted Solid Snake, Guyver, a thing or two I didn't recognize, and then a bunch of items already up for pre-order including figma Motoko. Check them out in the gallery.

Finally, on a bitter final note, it looks like the Conan Edogawa definitely won't receive any articulation. I was holding out hope that they just hadn't worked the jointing in rather than leaving him as a static figurine which appears to be the case. I guess I can always hope for a Nendoroid, though.
