Tomopop LinkUP: Remakeover

Sometimes our favorite characters are too good to fall off into obscurity over the years. Often they'll get a new outfit and and just continue their adventures like Sideshow's upcoming 1/6 scale Catwoman. Sometimes they trans...

Hobby Japan's Sakura Miku is pretty in pink for pre-orders photo
Hobby Japan's Sakura Miku is pretty in pink for pre-orders
by Martin Siggers

Kahotan's preview today spotlights Good Smile Company's second collaboration with Hobby Japan for their Figure Japan magazine (the first being their 1/10 Ultimate Madoka). As we saw a few weeks back, it'll be a scale version of Sakura Miku, based on GSC's existing Miku figure but reduced to 1/10.

The downsizing doesn't appear to have hurt the quality though, as this is still a lovely looking figure. Kahotan notes the use of pearlescent paint to give her a real shimmer, and those massive twintails are still a standout feature of the sculpt. Happily, there'll be an easy way for overseas buyers to get her, as GSC have also put the magazine and figure bundle up on their online store. You'll pay 7,980 for the package, with deliveries due in October. Anyone tempted to splash a little pink into their life?

Pink is the new turquoise with Hobby Japan's Sakura Miku photo
Pink is the new turquoise with Hobby Japan's Sakura Miku

Hobby Japan has teamed up with Good Smile Company to produce a Sakura Miku scale figure. If the sculpt looks familiar, that's because it's based on GSC's 1/8-scale Miku. This one has been run through a copier and shrunken to 1/10-scale. Luckily the shrinking process hasn't impacted the detailing on her beautiful twin tails.

Sakura Miku will be an exclusive, coming in October bundled with Figure Japan magazine. For now you can check out Hobby Japan's gallery of the painted prototype. They're promising an update of some sort on March 9, so speculate away on what that might be about!

Good Smile's here to drop some more delays

By now the regular Good Smile Company delay post is a warm familiar friend. OK, that's a lie. It's still a crushing disappointment, but at least Good Smile is prompt and consistent about notifying us when our eagerly awaited ...

Tomopop LinkUP: Gold Medal Panic photo
Tomopop LinkUP: Gold Medal Panic
by Jeremy Emerje Crocker

Hello and welcome back to Tomopop LinkUP! It's been a pretty busy week in all sorts of ways. We're still plowing our way through Wonder Festival coverage with the shadow of Toy Fair looming over us. But outside of that the Olympics are in full swing once again and Valentine's Day is tomorrow, probably the two best events for precious metals. Man, why is the shortest month of the year also the busiest?

This week we've got more galleries, customs, LEGO pieces, and plushies. Follow me after the jump to see it all! Incidentally, I've tried to watch Full Metal Panic twice and still haven't finished the first season...

Wonder Festival 2014 Winter: Nendoroid round-up

I keep trying to tell myself that I'm done with Nendoroids but Good Smile Company just won't take "no" for an answer, as the company seems to constantly barrage us with cool offerings. To make matters worse, I find myself tempted by characters I've basically never seen before. Hit the jump for some Nendoroid highlights from Wonder Festival 2014 Winter.
