At the time of this post, it's only 15 days until San Diego Comic Con. With time ticking down, you know that there'd be a ton of exclusive announcements and let me tell you, companies have definitely unleashed the floodgates....
VinylMation World has posted an image of an upcoming Hot Topic-exclusive flocked Pop! Simba. However, he's not the only upcoming Hot Topic exclusive as the retail chain will also be receiving a (far less exciting) black &...
Celebrate the launch of the Terra Battle Download Starter campaign by following them on Twitter to receive 5 Energy to get a jumpstart once the game launches. Developed by the legendary Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Terra Battle launches in October..
Funko's Pop! Star Sapphire Wonder Woman & Frost Giant Loki to be sold exclusively at NYCC by Scarecroodle
Both versions will be available in a standard edition as well as a variant; Star Sapphire WW has a metallic costume version while Frost Giant Loki seems to glow in the dark. I have to admit being a little surprised that the standard version of Star Sapphire is an exclusive in the first place, given that there's some fan demand for the character and she's more than just a simple repaint. Usually the more sculpting a figure gets, the more mileage its maker tries to get although I guess the body work must be minor enough that Funko isn't overly invested in the figure.
No word on pricing, but Fugitive Toys' previous exclusive Funko Pop! White Lantern Batman apparently ran for US$17 while its glow-in-the-dark version was US$25.
Funko has given MTV News an exclusive first look at some upcoming The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies, a selection that includes TWO over-sized Smaugs.
The reveals consist of a 6-inch Smaug, a chase variant of Smaug with yellow eyes (packed 1/12), Tauriel, and Lord Sauron (not shown to scale in header). While the Sauron is cute, both he and Tauriel are completely overshadowed by the "massive" (and massively awesome) Smaug. Both versions of Smaug look great, although I imagine that I might prefer the standard version (as Smaug's actual eyes look a little creepy on that otherwise adorable body). Smaug will be the third over-sized dragon we've seen recently, following the likes of the Magic: The Gathering Pop! Nicol Bolas and World of Warcraft Pop! Deathwing.
These figures are due out in October and, while pre-orders seem to be open for Smaug and Tauriel, I haven't seen any Sauron listings. Tauriel (and presumably Sauron) should run you around US$10 while the over-sized Smaug will be a slightly pricier (but worth it) US$15.

Funko's Batman: Arkham Asylum Pop! figures are currently available for pre-order. The line-up includes a scary-looking Batman, the Joker, nurse Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and Poison Ivy.
The Killer Croc and Joker are way too cute. (Granted, I don't think I've seen an Arkham-series Killer Croc figure that I haven't liked so far.) The thuggish-looking Batman is also neat. The wave is listed as coming out in November (although apparently Hot Topic got a pre-release? So I'm not crazy for thinking I saw the Joker on shelves recently, although I might be crazy for not grabbing it at the time) and the figures are listed at US$10 each.
Today on Marvel’s website, they announced that Funko would be creating a new line of Pop! figures. What line would this be? Well, fans will be getting vinyl figures of classic X-Men characters.
Also, not only will the...
Funko has fleshed out its cast of Thor movie Pop! figures with Odin, Lady Sif, and Heimdall (one brotha in all of Asgard and he's the doorman? Racist much, Marvel movies?) as well as a new helmeted Loki, all of which are currently available for pre-order.
Although the whole set is pretty cute, I think that I'm most impressed by the Odin who, despite his miniature proportions, still looks pretty tough. Lady Sif, who sports a thinner body mold, is also a really neat-looking Pop! figure.
The wave is apparently slated to hit retailers in September and should retail for around US$10. No word as to when I'll see Thor: The Dark World which still hasn't appeared on NFI.
ShopWWE.com has listed a Pop! AJ Lee. Fans will best recall AJ Lee as the vibrant, fun diva who held the WWE Divas Championship for a record-setting 295 days before dropping the title to newcomer (and then-NXT Women's Champion) Paige the night after Wrestlemania presumably so she could take some time off to get ready for her then-impending marriage to a wrestler described (often by himself) as being the best in the world.
Funko's Pop! AJ Lee is currently available through the official WWE online store for US$15.
Marvel's quirky off-beat Howard the Duck, star of the 1986 movie of the same name (as well as his own self-titled comic book), will soon join Funko's Pop! line. The figure is based on the character's recent appearance in the smash Summer-hit Guardians of the Galaxy where the Master of Quack-Fu had a minor yet memorable cameo.
The cameo and figure has once again given hope that fans may someday see a non-terrible Howard the Duck movie (or, at least, a bigger role in another Marvel movie).
So while fans of The Walking Dead wait for season five to begin in October, Funko is releasing their series five of The Walking Dead Pop! figures. We'll be getting six new figures this time, and none of them are Daryl. Sorry,...
Funko has released images for its Book of Life Pop! and Legacy figures. While the Pop! figures (which includes both versions of Manolo, Maria, Xibalba, and La Muerte) are cute, it's the Legacy figures which steal the show.
The Legacy Manolo seems to have the character's likeness down right to the joints. The Legacy Xibalba also looks great, although it's hard to estimate accuracy to his on-screen counterpart who moves around a lot and seems to shift sizes. Finally, there's the Legacy Maria who looks good but isn't as cool as the other two (although her Pop! is certainly neat).
Funko's Book of Life figures are slated for an October release, which means you could have them on your shelves by the time you see the film on October 17th.
Funko's Pop! Magic: The Gathering Series 2 is now available for pre-order. The selection includes the absolute must-own over-sized (6-inch) Elder Dragon Nicol Bolas, Elspeth Tirel, Kiora Atua, Sarkhan Vol, Gideon Jura, and the freakish-looking Tezzeret.
Other than Nicol Bolas, one of the famed Elder Dragons (who premiered back in the Legends expansion in 1994 and has apparently since become a Planeswalker), I can't say that I recognize any of the characters which is unsurprising considering I haven't followed the franchise that closely since the creature-exclusive Le-Gi-Ons! expansion (although I played in a local Planar Chaos release sealed-draft tourney where I top 8'd in my first and only tourney outing). However, even if you're as unfamiliar with these guys as I am, some of the figures like Elspeth and Kiora. More importantly, you have that over-sized Nicol Bolas which you know you want.
Funko's Pop! Magic: The Gathering Series 2 is slated for an October release. The standard figures have a US$10 MSRP while the larger Nicol Bolas will run you US$15.
