At the time of this post, it's only 15 days until San Diego Comic Con. With time ticking down, you know that there'd be a ton of exclusive announcements and let me tell you, companies have definitely unleashed the floodgates....
So we’ve finally reached the end of Funko’s SDCC exclusives. I’ve seen some cool things, some alright things, and stuff I don’t really care about. Still, I would love to score some of this stuff.
Looking back, when I first saw the Funko POP series a few years back, I didn't think much of them. I thought they were cute, but I didn't expect for the line to last very long. Well, needless to say that I was wrong. Dead wrong. Multiple lines, a ton of exclusives and dozens of figures later, it's safe to say that the POPs are a success.
However, it took me a long time to start picking up POPs of my own. Despite their cheap price, I didn't want to start dropping money on yet another series of figures. There are just too many that I'd want and if I got started, who knows where I'd stop. Leave it to the Mass Effect series to drag me kicking and screaming into this line, with Funko's first series of toys based on Bioware's space opera RPG.
Now with about ten or so POPs around me room, it's clear that I'm finally a convert to the irresistibly cute collectables. Hit the jump to see which ones have made it into my abode!
So we’re getting close to the end of Funko’s SDCC exclusives reveals. I’ve been pretty excited about a few of their figures, especially the Pop! Headless Hershel. Today’s batch of exclusives features a mix of movies, and more Game of Thrones.
It’s a popular show, I know, but so is The Walking Dead and Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Ok, so let’s kick this off with their latest Game of Thrones exclusive. From the Legacy Collection, there will be a Battle Damaged Tyrion Lannister with his weapon and helmet.
Next, there will be a Nightmare Before Christmas ReAction figure of Jack Skellington and his dog, Zero. Keeping with the spooky, there will also be a glow in the dark and blood splattered Billy from Saw. There will also be a Pop! Sloth from The Goonies wearing his Superman shirt. If you wanted this Sloth in another form, there will also be a ReAction figure of this particular Sloth as well.
Year after year, Blizzard's San Diego Comic-Con booth is swamped with fans hoping to buy their con-exclusive goods. It's easy to see why. Their stuff is spectacular, managing to tie into the company's games while being collectible and, at times, a little silly. This year's offerings are no different.
Blizzard will be bringing a four exclusives with them. The first (and my personal favorite) is the Nether Faerie Dragon plush (US$35; limited to 2,000 pieces), a variant of the remarkable-looking Faerie Dragon Dragon plush coming to the Blizzard Gear Store later on. The second is a Funko Pop! Vinyl - Primal Kerrigan (US$15, limited to 2,500 pieces), a variant on the currently available Funko Pop! Vinyl Kerrigan. The third is the Cute But Deadly Cloaking Zeratul (US$18, limited to 2,500 pieces), from the same line as last year's Sylvanas. The final con-exclusive is the Whimsyshire Treasure Goblin plush (US$30, limited to 3,500), another variant of an upcoming Blizzard Gear Store plush (although the standard one is much more sinister-looking).
In addition to the con-exclusives, Blizzard will be debuting goodies coming to the online store after the show. Highlights include a Hearthstone plush equipped with light and sound effects, a StarCrafts Zergling plush keychain, and a Blizzard Heroes and Villains lanyard.
You can find all these treasures at Blizzard's booth #115.
We’ve seen some Game of Thrones exclusives already from Funko, but today’s seventh announcement really focuses on this HBO hit show. The first exclusive announcement contains many spoilers! If you are not up to date with the show, or haven’t even watched and want to later, go away right now!
Funko will be releasing an exclusive Game of Thrones Mystery Minis series consisting of characters who have died. The series will be called “In Memoriam,” and there will be eight figures included all in black and white. I’m not naming them to avoid spoilers, but if you look at the photos, you can see who they are.
There will also be an exclusive Pop! figure of Ghost flocked. If you like the flocked style, there will also be a flocked exclusive Pop! Lion-O from ThunderCats. Also from ThunderCats, there will be a glow in the dark Mumm-Ra.
Ending on an extremely random note, there will also be a SDCC exclusive Pop! of Sharknado. This time he’s all bloody!
Funko did it! I said I wanted them to surprise me, and that’s just what they did. Their sixth batch of SDCC exclusives all comes from hit TV shows.
The first two come from the critically acclaimed, Breaking Bad. This series is getting massive! There’s already ten regular figures, two Entertainment Earth exclusives, and now two SDCC exclusives.
There will be a glow in the dark Walter White in his yellow cook suit, and a badly beaten Jesse Pinkman. Next comes my favorite Pop! exclusive so far; The Walking Dead’s Hershel Greene. What makes this exclusive so special?
Well, tragically, Hershel comes with a removable head just like the SDCC exclusive last year of Game of Thrones’ Ned Stark. I joked some time ago about Funko making this figure, so I’m happy they actually did. Speaking of Game of Thrones, there will be a Glow in the dark version of a White Walker from the Legacy Collection.
The last two exclusives come from My Little Pony. There will be Vinyl Collectible versions of DJ Pon-3 and Spitfire. Remember to like and share Funko’s SDCC posts on social media for a chance to win these exclusives. I want that Hershel Pop!
Funko is again delivering exclusives from one of their more popular upcoming series, Frozen. I mean, are we surprised that people wanted Frozen Pop! figures? So there will be three exclusives from this Disney movie.
Glow in the dark, Olaf, Freezing Transition Elsa, and Frozen Anna. If Disney isn’t your thing, there are also some Marvel exclusives here. There will be a Flocked Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy.
There will also be an exclusive Marvel Mystery Minis series. This series will include 12 special edition figures like Spider-Man, Daredevil, Hulk, and Thor. Ok, Funko, I want to be surprised with your next batch!
So we already know that Funko is making Pop! figures from everyone’s favorite meth dealing show, Breaking Bad. The series will be available in August. Now, Entertainment Earth has announced that they will also have two exclusive Pop! figures added to this series.
Along with the 10 figures already known, you can also get Green Cook Suit Walter White and Green Cook Suit Jesse Pinkman. These will be US$12.99 each. These Entertainment Earth exclusives are also available in August, and are open now for pre-order.
Ryan Murphy’s twisted horror show, American Horror Story is the latest show to get their own Funko Pop! series. The figures are beautiful and twisted, just like the show itself! For those who don’t know, ea...
Funko has released some product images of its Pop! Movies Kill Bill figures (previously seen at Toy Fair!). The selection consists of "The Bride" (Beatrix Kiddo), Bill, O-Ren Ishii, Gogo Yubari, and a generic member of the Crazy 88.
It's a pretty decent-looking set and character selection. Sure, poor Johnny Mo got left out and a Sofie with a one-armed variant (or no arms variant, as seen in The Whole Bloody Affair) would been nice, but it hits all the important bases and leaves room for possible follow-ups. Kill Bill fans would be Crazy 88 to pass these up.
Funko's Pop! Movies Kill Bill figures are still available for pre-order and slated for a September release.
So here we are seeing the fourth batch of SDCC exclusive figures from Funko. This time it consist of all Pop! figures. The first two come from the animated movie, Despicable Me 2.
If you loved Dave and Carl in yellow, you’d probably like them even more in purple. Funko has even made new versions of Princess Bubblegum and BMO from Adventure Time. These exclusive versions will glow in the dark!
Now this batch has been too kid-friendly, so Funko had to end it with a little blood. From Pulp Fiction, there will be a blood splattered version of Vincent Vega and Jules. Now we have to wait until next week to see what other exclusives Funko will come out with.
It’s Monday, so that means Funko has announced another batch of SDCC exclusives. This one opens up with a Pop! mashup between SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. SpongeBob is green, with Leonardo’s blue bandana, and two silver spatulas as weapons.
With him is Plankton dressed exactly like Shredder. These two will come together in a special collectible lunchbox tin. Next up, is a special version of Hannibal Lecter. From the TV show, Hannibal, this exclusive is splattered with blood.
After all these Pop! figures, there will be an exclusive Disney Mystery Minis series. There will be 12 figures from popular Disney movies like Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland. The last two exclusives comes from the cult favorite, Firefly.
As part of the ReAction series, these two special versions of Jayne Cobb and Malcolm Reynolds will come with their signature accessories. Enter to try and win this prize pack on social media, and keep watching for more SDCC announcements. What exclusives would you like to see?
