figma Ryuko gets officially previewed, pre-orders open tomorrow photo
figma Ryuko gets officially previewed, pre-orders open tomorrow
by Martin Siggers

You haven't been able to move for Kill la Kill figure news over the past couple of days (Nendoroid Mako was just this morning!), and it doesn't look like the rush is about to slow down, as the figma blog has taken the wraps off of their preview of Ryuko Matoi. We first saw her pop up at WonFes, but this is the first time we've had cameras on her in a studio.

Ryuko looks predictably great, and the preview is careful to highlight some small touches that you might not notice at first glance, like the hidden thigh joints or the way her chest straps can stretch to aid posing. We also get confirmation on the standard three figma faces to be included - happy, angry and in pain.

She's certainly looking sharp, and the best news is you won't have too wait too long to get your order in.  Pre-orders open tomorrow at ¥4,800. Who's buying?

Max Factory shows off figma Ryuko, teases figma Mako photo
Max Factory shows off figma Ryuko, teases figma Mako
by Martin Siggers

In the same stream where we got a look at Nendoroid Mako, the fine people over at Good Smile Company bought in their Max Factory compatriots for a quick preview of figma Ryuko, who I'd suspect is pretty close to opening for orders. We get to see some nice all-around shots and a hilariously over-the-top shouting face that's very much in character. There's also a look at an additional accessory, her Scissor Blade in extended 'decapitation mode'.

At the end of the segment, the team also showed off a MYSTERY SILHOUETTE teasing what's coming next. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work it out - that exceptionally round head all but confirms figma Mako Mankanshoku is on her way. You could never separate these two after all.

Avengers figma Iron Man has us in Mark 7 heaven photo
Avengers figma Iron Man has us in Mark 7 heaven
by Martin Siggers

We've already had the God of Thunder drop in on us, but now it's time for the second in Max Factory's range of Avengers figmas to take flight. Surprising no-one, it's noted beard-and-moustache connoisseur, enthusiastic drinker, and occasional superhero Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.

Iron Man's depicted in his 'Mark 7' armour which he dons in the latter part of The Avengers, a chunky, classically styled suit. No mincing words, this figma looks absolutely stunning. The sharp, clean armour lines, the outstanding red-and-gold-paintjob, the perfectly integrated joints (always an advantage of robotic-style figures)...it's A grade stuff from top to bottom. There's also the tempting option of the 'Full Spec.' version. Exclusive to the Good Smile Online Shop, it adds extra parts to depict his wrist-mounted missiles and rocket backpack, while also including an extra head which shows off the man underneath the machine.

The problem here is the same one which popped up with Thor, which is price. figma Iron Man will cost a breathtaking ¥7,800, while the Full Spec. version clocks in at ¥8,800. No two ways about it, that's a LOT of money, especially for something as small as a figma. It's also worth pointing out that (probably due to licencing issues) they aren't listed on the international GSC Shop page, so you'll have to navigate through the Japanese store. If you remain unfazed, Iron Man lands this August, and you can pre-order him by clicking below.
