Due to scheduling difficulties, I wasn't able to get a question post up. My deepest apologies, dearest Tomocast listeners. To make up for it, I brought on a trio of guests that will surely entertain you. To...
Christmas will soon be upon us, so what better time to start giving stuff away? Yes, it's time for a new photo contest!
The theme this time out will be Best of Friends. We want to see your figures hanging out with each other,...
Alter showed up in force at MegaHobby Expo, and after waiting it out, we've got a nice little round-up here of what they had on display. Check out the gallery for images of:
Super Soniko and Kaguya in swimsuits
I've noticed that as rare as male figures tend to be, it's often Alter that picks up the slack more than many other producers. Their latest foray into the less-than-fair sex comes with the two pretty boys from Uta no Prince-s...
Of course, they both look absolutely fantastic. Masato comes with an extra face that gives him a more serious look, and Ren comes with a swoon-worthy smolder as his alternate expression. As expected of ALTAiR, all the other details look great.
In more good news, it looks like these two will be going up for pre-order this coming Wednesday, so fans won't have to wait too long now to reserve their pretty UtaPri boys. Are these bad boys on your list? Check the gallery for plenty of images to help you in that decision.
I hate Strike Witches and all things tangentially associated with it, but even I can't deny that Alter's line of figures based on the show has been excellent and a real showcase of their famous quality. Now it's time for the latest member of the team to show up, the childish catgirl from Romagna Francesca Lucchini.
It's another fine effort from Alter, with wonderful cloth detailing on her flapping shirt and, in what's become the line's calling card, an incredibly well reproduced weapon (in this case the Browning M1919A6). For those of you who just can't get enough, there's a gallery up over at Alter's blog. For those whose mind is already made up, you can snag her today at a cool ¥9800 by hitting the links below.
Emily just posted a preview gallery to Alter's Suzuha, but I wanted to go a bit more in-depth. You see, Alter's primary intent with their photos was not just to show off their figure but really to show some nice closeups as to how Suzuha should be poised on her bike for long term display.
Hit the jump or check out the gallery to see more of how to assemble Alter's Suzuha Amane.
Alter's Suzuha of Steins;Gate fame has certainly had a rocky start. First announced over a year ago and getting subjected to the usual Alter delays, she only recently saw the Light of Day and, as you can imagine, quickly disa...
While there are few things more annoying than the proliferation of Christmas goodies popping up everywhere just days after--and occasionally even before--Halloween, I think anyone can make an exception for Alter and their fan...
I didn't really expect much to come from Papakiki even though I really did enjoy the series quite a bit, as I've stated before. Fans like me are still waiting for a Raika Oda figure, for example, but apparently the Takanashi ...
Late last month we caught a quick glimpse of Alter's Santa Sonico, but we really didn't get many good photos showing off the details of her sculpt. Alter apparently sought to remedy this issue and posted a nice splash of pretty photos on their blog! While they do not show off anything more than what you would see on a swimsuit figurine I would still suggest you not view this at work.
I have to hand it to Alter and their photographer, they took some really exceptional photos showing off all of Sonico's nice curves and they got close up here and there where it really counted, like the detail work done to make Sonico's little hood look extra fluffy and the sweet look in her eyes.
Okay yeah, she is also very showy and sensual and the photos do a great job of showing that off. It could be the way the bokeh came out, but it's getting a little stuffy in here! I have never really liked a Sonico figure before, but this one is both (somehow) hot and cute enough to turn my head. I only wish they had a full Santa girl suit for her and that this was just how she looked when that was cast off... Ah well, one can dream right?
I have to wonder about why Alter is making all of these Christmas themed figurines. Wouldn't it be funny if it was some sort of inside joke that they will be done by next Christmas or something? Well, we'll see, hopefully this Sonico will be released before next Christmas. Pre-orders will open soon!
If you are like me and passed on watching Listen to me, Girls, I'm Your Father!, which can be streamed over at Crunchyroll, then you might think that you have little to no interest in Alter's Miu Takanashi. Still, before making your decision I think you should check out this gallery and see how cute she is! Also, my fellow editors tell me that the show she hails from was in fact very good, so I may have to go back and check out it out later.
Miu is younger than most of the characters that I would usually collect figurines of, but this youth really brings an extra punch of spunk to Alter's rendition of her. Her eyes and touched finger to her lips just gleam with a sort of fun mischief that I find hard to put into words. It's also kind of refreshing to see a figure made of this shorter body style.
The colors used in her outfit and bright, eye-popping and contrasting, and if you look closely at Miu's hair and little ruffles of her skirt and folds of her outfit the usual high level of detail that Alter is so well-known for is present all over.
Even though I have very little interest in the series she is from, I have to admit Miu is pretty cute as a figurine. What do you think of her, Tomopeeps? Anyone interested in picking this lady up?
Max Factory aren't the only ones getting in on the Free! action. At Animate Girls Festival 2013, ALTAiR also showed off two prototypes for their upcoming Free! line, featuring Haru and Makoto. I haven't watched the show, so i...
