Alter's Hozuki Ferrari is ready to find some treasure

I've never heard of Galilei Donna before, but Alter decided it was a big enough deal to make a figure with the license. It seems to be an adventure series about three sisters looking for treasure. I choose to believe it's in ...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Alter

Alter played it safe this Wonder Festival and just showed off prototypes and a few new figures which we knew were in the pipeline. Having said that, there's something to be said about playing things safe and, if nothing else,...

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: ALTAiR Archer photo
Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: ALTAiR Archer
by Scarecroodle

Alter had an unpainted 1/8-scale Archer (Fate/Stay Night) on display at Summer WonFes. The Archer-class servant is depicted gesturing aimlessly with a sword while looking backwards. Maybe he's pointing at something.

At any rate, the sculpting looks neat and I'm curious as to how he'll turn out painted. He's supposedly slated to release in 2015.

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Inshun Houzouin is all about spears and butts

Apart from a random Jubei figure here and there, I haven't seen much Hyakka Ryoran activity. I think Alter is the only manufacturer that ever really gave the franchise any attention (I guess Hobby Japan too). At MegaHobby Exp...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Travel through some dungeons with Mefmera

MegaHobby Expo had a number of new Alter prototypes on display, including this Mefmera from Dungeon Travelers 2. I don't know anything about the game, but this figure is rather pretty. From all the Rage of Bahamut figures tha...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: A full-blooded Valkyria joins the battle

Some figures can be encapsulated with a single word. I think the word for this one is "bendy." This is Alter's version of Aliasse, a character from Valkyria Chronicles 2. As you can tell by her gear, she's a Valkyria - a warr...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Alter didn't make Neptunia's Black Heart just for you, you know photo
MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Alter didn't make Neptunia's Black Heart just for you, you know
by Jeremy Emerje Crocker

We've seen Hyperdimension Neptunia figures and merchandise for the game and anime series from a number of figure companies like Wing and quesQ, now Alter is ready to make their first jump into the franchise. They're finally revealing their take on the HDD mode of Lastation's resident tsundere CPU Noire after announcing her some three months ago.

Though unpainted, they've clearly made the most dynamic looking Neptunia figure yet. Black Heart is shown dashing into battle with sword in hand. I love the off-kiltered angle of the figure even though that might lead to a bit of leaning over time. Well, it's Alter, I'm sure they know what they're doing. No release info yet, but with the summer convention season fast approaching I'm sure we'll be seeing her in color soon.

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Alter goes back to the well for a new Fate Testarossa

Man, remember when Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha was the hottest thing in the figure world? A few years back it seemed like we'd get a new Nanoha or Fate figure every week. A lot of those figures were made by Alter (I own ...

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: ALTAiR teases last two UtaPri boys

Hobby Search captured an image of a teaser for the final two male members of STARISH from Uta no Prince-Sama, Syo Kurusu and Natsuki Shinomiya, to complete the set in scaled figures. They're a lovely pair, and from the looks ...

ALTAiR's Free! boys get previewed, pre-orders begin Wednesday photo
ALTAiR's Free! boys get previewed, pre-orders begin Wednesday
by Martin Siggers

A sizeable chunk of the internet fanbase has been eagerly awaiting full scale figures of the Free! club members ever since Alter announced they were picking up the licence and adding the boys to their ALTAiR male line. They've been popping up at various events in prototype form, but now the Alter blog has let loose a full on preview of the two announced figures - Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana.

Both of the guys are looking absolutely great. It's rare that we get some male beefcake to show off on Tomopop and ALTAiR have gone all out with the pecs, glutes and other muscles I don't even know the name of. It's not just all ogling though - the company's trademark paint and attention to detail really shines in their team jackets, which add a nice splash of colour and movement to what could have been overly simplistic figures. Faces are top notch too, as is Alter's habit, and the blog notes both will come with goggles which can be placed round their necks.

Overall, they're real lookers, and I suspect anybody who wants some dreamy boys on their shelf will be thrilled. Pre-orders will begin this Wednesday at a still unknown price, though I think ¥8-10,000 is a solid guess. Keep it tuned to Tomo and we'll let you know when orders go live. I've got a nagging feeling they won't stick around too long
