Tomopop LinkUP: Winter (Soldier) Blues

I know I've talked a lot about the terrible winter we've been experiencing so I don't want to spend a lot of time on that. I'll just quickly say that I have a feeling I'll be pulling weeds from my garden this year while it's ...

Tomopop Review: Alphamax's Velvet Batrass photo
Tomopop Review: Alphamax's Velvet Batrass
by Tianxiao Ma

I really like the sexy pirate trope, which seems more prevalent in Japanese properties than in the West. When thinking of pirate figures, Mouretsu Pirates' Marika and Queen's Blade's Liliana spring to mind. Alphamax's Velvet has recently joined them, though she lacks the stereotypical frilly coat and pirate weaponry.

Velvet struck me with a combination of a lovely face, nice body, and appealing outfit design. Although I have a few other figures from the Shining series (I'm a Tony Taka fan, what can I say), this is my first Alphamax figure. As such I decided this would make the perfect occasion for a review!

Hello and welcome back to Tomopop LinkUP! This week we're doing something entirely different from the normal LinkUP. Last week we took no prisoners when reporting on Wonder Festival 2014 [Winter] which doesn't leave much for this week's LinkUP. I'm not about to let a week slip by without something to read so I think it's time to do another special. Given that a big part of LinkUP is pointing out some of the great stuff done by fans I think now is a perfect time to turn the spotlight on all of you out there.

So join me after the jump as we check out some of the reviews, videos, photo galleries, and creative stuff made by fans, for fans!

Curse your wedding by looking at Alphamax's Saber Bride

They say that looking at the bride's dress before the wedding is bad luck. You really can't help but a sneak a peek here with Alphamax's Saber Bride. She certainly debuted to a lot of fanfare, but it's been a little while sin...

Check out some pirate booby in AM Velvet gallery

Akiba Hobby has released a photo gallery for AlphaMax's recently released Shining Ark Velvet which shows off Velvet's ample treasure chest. Sure, her pirate booty is nice as well but I've been more into pirate boobies. If tha...

Put a pre-order on AlphaMax's Saber Bride

AlphaMax's 1/8 scale Fate/EXTRA CCC Saber Bride is currently available for pre-order. Although I haven't exactly been a fan of the Saber Bride design, I'm seeing the appeal when the zipper is down as seen with the AlphaMax version. It still seems like an unbelievably kooky design but there's some definite fetish fuel going on here. Full info after the jump.

Preview Alisa from God Eater photo
Preview Alisa from God Eater
by Jon Wills

Alisa looked hot when pre-orders were first announced. Over a month has passed and she still looks hot! This is what happens when a company like AlphaMax who I think are very good at making quality swimsuit figurines make an action posed busty female like Alisa from God Eater.

Do you know what the best part of this figure is? Well, if you ask Rio, me, and some of Tomo staff then you hear that she is a definite candidate for the best butt of the year award. If that award ever existed, not that she is lacking in other departments. Her stockings just show off her detailed sculpt so nicely. However there is so much more to her than that!

AlphaMax did an outstanding job of detailing the base and sword of this figure as well as making the clothing cover just enough to look modest from any above angles. Actually, I find her interesting because from above she does not look pervy at all. Alisa could easily be placed on a low, middle, or high shelf in a collector’s case for different display options. Plus with a red and black color scheme she should blend in great about anywhere in ones collection.

What do you think Tomopeeps? Did any of you pre-order this lovely lady?

Tony's Iris makes a splash in this pair of galleries

Alphamax's Sorceress gets a pre huge... errr, preview photo
Alphamax's Sorceress gets a pre huge... errr, preview
by Scarecroodle

While the age old argument of how big is too big may always remain up for debate, few might disagree that Sorceress passed that line by at least a mile. Alphamax's Sorceress's sizable assets (or boobset?) have received a preview via Akiba Hobby.

Sorceress, one of the characters from the Playstation 3 and Vita-exclusive Dragon's Crown, first saw pre-orders for her Alphamax-made figure go up in July before vanishing in August and ultimately reappearing earlier this month following a face revision.

While outrageously oversized breasts are no stranger to anime and video games, Sorceress takes things a few steps further although she still falls short of Cattleya's outlandish proportions. Assuming you can look past Sorceress's breasts (I'd suggest trying to focus on her eyes), you may notice that Alphamax has done a previously solid job adapting a somewhat problematic character design. The company has even gone so far as to give her an absolutely incredible base featuring a skeleton clutching a sword (which, by the way, is a lot cooler than Sorceress herself) which many are bound to miss because they're too busy looking at Sorceress's oversized melons. Seriously! Take your eyes off them for a second!

Alphamax's Sorceress features a nicely done, provocative pose where the character is hiking up part of her skirt as if to remind you that she's got more to admire than just the size of her chest. I like this rather coy move on Alphamax's part. Likewise, the face and hair also look great. This is a figure that I suspect that a lot of people would absolutely adore if not for that one (well, two) big distraction(s).

Alphamax's Sorceress is still available for pre-order and is slated to release in March.
