24th Annual Prize Fair: Taito and Sega clone the cast of the To Aru series for more figures photo

Recently we've been seeing a little more of the cast from the To Aru series with some of the lesser characters getting standard scaled figures. However, the cast has always been readily available in the world of prize figures. Sega Prize and Taito showed off what they have coming up at the 24th Annual Prize Fair with something different and more of the usual.

Taito set their eyes on To Aru Kagaku no Railgun with new figures for Mikoto, Kuroko, and Ruiko. There is much special about the Mikoto and Ruiko pair the company has planned for in October. Both are posed with swaying motions and that's about it. Mikoto has little more going for her with her motion but what's up with the line around her mouth?

Taito does mix it up a bit from the usual school uniformed to the sleepwear of Mikoto and Kuroko with their Oyasumi Figure set. Kuroko is being, well, Kuroko as she attempts to pose seductively in her outfit. Mikoto on the other goes with plain pajamas with a sleepy expression while holding a pillow. I like the idea for Mikoto and think it's cute but her face seems a tad round when compared to official art. Look for the sleeping pair to come out in December.

Sega Prize went with To Aru Majutsu no Index II and does have a pair of lovely figures under their wing. The first is Index in mid stride while showing a sweet smile. With the detail in the clothing and hair, this looks to a quality figure. The same can be said for Kaori and her flowing hair, shirt, and face. A definite treat for fans of these characters. Look for the two to be a part of the EX Figure Vol.2 set coming out in late October.

MOAR Toaru Kagaku no Railgun:

Legacy Comments

May pick up. Have been wanting a figure of Kaori, but really prefer the cheaper format like prize figures for statics.
One of each please! You can't do better for this price. Heck, you can barely do better at a higher price. I've already got all of Sega's current offerings and I've preordered the upcoming FuRyu figures even if their details are on the soft side. I did pass on the Taito's first series of figures, the sculpts seemed way off, especially on Mikoto, but these look pretty good and I love the night wear idea. That Kuroko figure is actually pretty tasteful for a change. I actually like that outline in Mikoto's mouth, a lot of times the sculpts loose depth and you just end up with a half circle for a mouth (looking at your FuRyu).

On Bandai's side both figures look fantastic, but I hate it when figures are sculpted looking backwards. Nobody wants to stare at the back of a figure, it's boring. Really wishing Index wasn't walking.
As much as I love Mikoto... what I want is an Itsuwa figure. =/
